Academic/Research experience

Completed a PhD in skin cancer and DNA repair at the Cancer Research UK (CR-UK) London Research Institute and the Centre for Cutaneous Research at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Honorary Research Fellow at St John’s Institute of Dermatology for the phototesting component of research. Established a solid foundation in clinical and basic science, and forged successful and productive collaborations within the Centre for Cutaneous Research, Cancer Research UK and St John’s Institute of Dermatology.  Privileged to have worked under the leadership of 3 Nobel Laureates at Cancer Research-UK.

Research published in high ranking journals including Science and EMBO Reports and presented at national and international meetings including the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society for Investigative Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology. Active participant in basic science and clinical research and currently supervises a PhD student.

Clinical trials experience, including (1) Topical PDT versus Efudix for the treatment of field precancerisation in organ transplant recipients; (2) Co- Lead Clinical Dermatologist in a trial of Melanotan and (3) Principal Investigator, SESAME multicentre study: Daylight PDT for the treatment of actinic keratosis (Galderma sponsored).

Presented research at various institutions including the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal College of Pathologists and at both national and international meetings (including the British Association of Dermatologists and the American Academy of Dermatologists). Invited to write reviews and text book chapters on subjects related to cutaneous oncology and also serve as a PhD examiner for the University of London.
